Doctor Who

"Late again, Miss Pryce?"

Lena shot the professor a sheepish smile as the entered his office. "I was grading those papers you asked me to-"

"You missed class."

"You told me I didn't have to come to every class." The girl impatiently shoved a long, dirty blond braid over a shoulder. "And that you wanted these papers graded by tonight. I figured I could just miss this one class-"

"I never said any such thing. Leave the papers here, I need you to get me some things from the library." The man handed her a list of books and the girl barely kept pitch black eyes from narrowing into a glare. "If you want to continue being my assistant, you will not miss another class."

"Yes, sir." Lena didn't bother to wait for his dismissal, knowing it wouldn't come. His nose was already back in his notes, forgetting about her presence entirely. It was hard to feel noticed the way he'd forget she was there. The way everyone forgot she was there.

It was as if she was invisible…

And being used to being almost entirely unnoticed by everyone, it wasn't a surprise when someone bumped her in the library. Though his tweed jacket, bowtie-and was that a fez?-certainly seemed odd. Lena simply shook her head and moved on to the back shelves, scowering them for the books she needed to gather.

She heard footsteps but didn't turn, simply moving closer to the bookcase so whoever it was could pass her by. Instead, they stopped and grabbed her hand. Black eyes shot to the fingers wrapped around hers, trailing up a tweed sleeve to a goofy smile and some seriously fluffy hair.

"Um…do I know you?"

"Nope. I'm the Doctor. And you?"

"Lena…Lenore Pryce. Doctor who exactly?"

"Just the Doctor."

Lena nodded, glancing down at his hand holding hers once more. "Um…did you need something?"

"Yes actually. You…seem different. But right now I need to run. Come along, Lena Pryce, you'll never believe what's hovering over your head."

Before she could do more that squeak, Lena was being pulled along by the strange Doctor person, right out of the library. "Wait, what do you mean?" she looked up, seeing nothing but the slightly overcast sky as they left the building. "There's nothing over my head, what are you talking about?"

The man shot a grin at her and pulled out asrange device, pointing it into midair over her head. The thing glowed green and made a strange pitchy sound…and then out of nowhere, a tiny person with wings was there.

"What…what is that?" she breathed, staring at the tiny person. The Doctor grinned.

"A…fairy, if you will. Though not from around here. From up there. Way way up there." He said, waving the strange tool about in the air as if drawing a bizarre picture. "Do you believe in fairies, Miss Pryce?"

Lena blinked at him. "You're kidding, right? I mean…I always figured there was stuff I couldn't explain…but fairies? Really?"

"Really really. Ever wonder why it is no one ever seems to notice you? You can thank that little lonely thing. As for why it picked you…" he moved closer, his nose only an inch away from hers. "You're a bit of a puzzle, Miss Pryce."

"Uh…thanks? I guess…"

"It's a compliment. You seem to be a little more of a challenge that most humans. And I love a good challenge. Come on, let's get rid of your passenger, shall we?"

And then Lena was being pulled along to a street corner where there sat nothing but a lonely blue box…

"A Good Book"

"No George."

The redhead stopped, lifting an eyebrow. "I didn't say anything."

"You didn't have to. You've got your 'I'm about to go beat someone's arse at Quidditch' smile on. And I'm not going to cheer for you."

George's grin – which he was indeed wearing – widened. Lissy hadn't even looked up from her book, yet she'd still noticed? He was never sure how she did that. Especially when she was clearly so into her story. Her feet, previously propped against one arm of the couch, were now curled under her, her book in her lap. She hunched over it, an elbow on the bottom outer corner of each page to hold it open, and her hands holding her chin. She only curled up like that when she was too into a story to realize she was growing uncomfortable. Usually she ended up with her leg completely asleep and then she complained for ages until the pins and needles left.

"What's this? A challenge?" he asked, moving closer to the couch. Lissy didn't even look up, simply moving her position in order to turn the page. She didn't reply…which George took to mean that she agreed. "Fine."

Without any warning he swept over and lifted the girl right from the couch, making her shriek in surprise. Though he suspected it was because he'd broken her eye contact with the page rather than the fact that she'd been picked up.

"George! I'm right at the good part!"

"You always say that."

"That's because it's true! You just have really bad timing." The American grumbled in annoyance. She was busy flipping through the pages, trying to find her spot. She seemed not to have noticed that George had carried her from the Gryffindor common room and was walking through the halls. Only when a fresh breeze hit them did she look up.

"Why are we outside? When did we get outside?"

"Just now. And you're going to come cheer on Fred and me as we show the Ravenclaw beaters how it's done."

Lissy shot him a look. "You're going against my house and you expect me to cheer you on?"

"Yes I do." George's voice was firm enough that Lissy suspected he didn't expect anything less. And when he set her down in the bleachers – refusing to let her walk seeing as he'd carried her off without shoes – he tugged off his red and gold scarf and wrapped it around her neck. "You're now an honorary Gryffindor. Deal?"

Lissy only smirked and opened her book to the page she'd been on. "Deal." She replied, clearly having no intent to even watch the game. George didn't care…she didn't seem to have minded the outing all that much.

Avatar the last Airbender

Karin was out of breath long before she tripped. Honestly she was amazed she'd managed to dodge all the other tree roots in the dark like this. The fact that she was laying still for the first time in a whole day felt like a miracle. And her body didn't want to move again.

All the same she did so, silvery blond hair flowing behind her like water as she started running once more. She wasn't really sure where the energy was coming from anymore, let alone oxygen. It was getting hard to breath, every intake of air burned her throat.

She was so tired she didn't see the ravine. She didn't even hear her own gasp of surprise in the sudden rush of air and then water closing over her head. She kicked aching legs, trying to find the surface…but she didn't know which way was up. Was there even an up anymore?

Then strong fingers closed around her wrist and she was being pulled from the rising river, coughing and gasping for breath.

"Hey…hey, you okay?"

Karin shook her head, simply sinking to the ground when the person tried to help her stand. All the time spent on the run seemed to have caught up with her all at once. "The Avatar…I must find the Avatar." She breathed, trying to blink her eyes clear of blurriness once again.

"Aang? What do you need him for?"

Karin looked up, her eyes finding a pair of dark hazel. "Because I want to know why I come from the fire nation…yet I have the power to water bend."

And with that she was out like a light, helpless against the exhaustion.
Three more done! I'm on a roll with these, they're rather fun XD though I think I'm done for today...I sort of never went to bed last night, so I'm about ready to pass out completely ^^;

Let's see...
:iconavatarfreak52011: Suggested Doctor Who! Aaaaaaaand since I can, I made up a new (possible) companion =P
:iconinvaderjulia: Suggested the prompt "A Good Book" and expanded it into George annoying Lissy who was reading :D That was a fun one, Lissy and the twins are super easy to write :D
:iconendlessocean591: Suggested AtlA! Nothing more specific, so I made up someone new again! I do love doing that XD Especially with a mystery like Karin has!!

Hope you guys enjoyed them!

Love it! I love Lissy's obliviousness and how the Doctor always just amazes everyone he meets. haha

I laughed at the Last Airbender one, cuz I'm in the process of developing an OC for AtlA and she's kidnapped from the fire nation by the Northern Water bending Pole tribe as a baby. So, she fire bends well, but sucks at water bending. Their not exactly the same (Karin is much more bad-ass :iconbadassplz:), but I was still like "YAYY! I share the thought process of an awesome person!" :iconwinningplz: (then my mom was like "oookaaayyyyy... weird daughter is weird...")Karin is cooler than mine though haha. :iconnerdfighterplz:
